Blue Yard Garden
About:
Howdy Folks in the UK. As you can imagine we aren't really A UK band, we are actually a band hailing from a little tiny town outside of Washington DC known to some as Rockville Maryland. We like to drink a few beers, eat a bunch of crabs, go to the beach and play our sounds. The band has been together for almost 5 years now. Currently we are working on a new album which will be released nationally (US) in November. Thanx for taking the time to read this. Its 11:13 am on Tuesday June 27th. Thats my time. Feel free to leave a message or post a thought, I am going to put a couple more tunes up here for ya later today. Hey if ya need some tracks for a move or a background tune for your brothers wedding video, drop us a line. Hope all is well in the UK, all is grand in the states except for gas prices and our presidential choices.

Jam is for Toast (a live show review by MTV)
As a general rule, I dislike jam bands. Their tendency to neglect songwriting for extended improvisation
and an abundance of showing off is annoying. While jam bands are excellent at playing live and playing
scales, it becomes clear that while music instructors can teach skills, they cannot teach creativity.
Jam bands have the habit of sounding similar to other jam bands -- and not within the normal standards from which genres are constructed. Unfortunately, the majority of jam bands sound the same, and those with an original sound make a name for themselves only to have hundreds of imitators by the next week.
Rockville, Maryland's BLUE YARD GARDEN is a jam band. But despite this fact or their instrumental
opening jam at the Bottom Line pub, BLUE YARD GARDEN doesn't just jam. Their capable musical
proficiency doesn't take an overwhelming stance and leaves the spotlight for something other than solos.
Instead, BLUE YARD GARDEN plays songs. And they're pretty damn good at it.
While the BLUE YARD GARDEN sound isn't breaking any new ground on rock music's landscape, it
isn't breaking down, either. The band plays a bluesy variety of rock not unlike that of THE BLACK
CROWES, but with singer Jeff Zutant's deep rumbling voice adding a heavier SEVEN MARY THREE
element to the mix. BLUE YARD GARDEN's rhythm section carries the band through each groove,
inviting the audience to get up and dance, even in the tiny space of the Bottom Line.
In fact, BLUE YARD GARDEN's skills are much too big for this small bar. Their sound and level of play
is much more suited for outdoor festivals or even inside blues clubs. "Don't forget to say 'hello' on your
way to the bathroom," remarked Zutant during the first set, making good-natured fun of how the
bathroom was located directly in back of the area in which the band played.
Having been nominated for several Washington-area awards as well as being given some national
recognition as one of "North America's Hottest Live Groups," BLUE YARD GARDEN know that they
may not fit into this small show so easily. Still, the band played to the bachelorette party, the PAC Rugby players and the assorted friends and strangers that made up the crowd as if it were the first sold-out show on their national tour.
This winning ability to generate genuine energy within the structure of compact and poignant songs
certainly gives BLUE YARD GARDEN the edge to stand out from among the mass of jam bands today.
It will surely be an asset in the radio-friendly rock music market at their doorstep.
