Just like any other bands out there, Mellow del Prado also has a history to tell. It all started out during the last remaining days of April of 2002 in San Pablo City. After a tiresome rehearsal of pop punk kids Village idiots, Marc B. immediately grabs the mic and guitar from me and instead of taking it back, I just grab the bass guitar from Topet. Then Ebong lend his guitar to Topz and Jay sit still behind the drumset. From that moment comes the first official line-up of San Pablo's newest favorite act Mellow del Prado. Marc B. (On a day like today) on vocals and guitar, Topz on guitar, Jade & Jay (Village Idiots) on bass and drums respectively to handle the rhythm section.Mellow del Prado was originally formed by chief songwriter Marc B. to materialize his hidden talent of making melodic pop tunes heavily inspired and influenced by bands such as Weezer, On A Day Like Today and even the Get Up Kids. Marc came from several bands before like Brokenframe, On A Day Like Today, Waterpump and the recent Good Nurse Florence, but only as a drummer so he didn't really contribute on the songmaking process of those bands. Until such time he decided to put up his own band to pursue his dreams of having a band where he can function more as a songwriter and musician. And Mellow del Prado was the result of that.Right now, the band has already made 6 original songs which mostly talks about Marc's first hand experiences about falling in and out of love. Songs like This Wednesday Morning, Bitter Things, My Direction, Wisdom Tooth, Pillows and Imagination and Happy will make you relate to Marc's words because I'm sure everybody has encounter this love-struck feeling. All these songs are going to be included in Mellow del Prado's first ever cdep entitled "Pretending We're Actors" which will be out this coming July 2002. It was recorded in the famous Sound Creation studios in Quezon City where lots of your favorite bands like Mindrape, Feud, Settled down., etc. did their albums. It will be distributed by Acid Cow Art Collective and Our Cause Distro.Today, Mellow del Prado is preparing for the release of their cdep hopefully in the future and they are very very eager and excited to play their first ever show. So the band is rehearsing non-stop to write more songs in their town of San Pablo. Hope you witness this new band in their grand time of enjoying their lives.
