I was born and brought up in Manchester, but currently spend much of my time gigging across the south of England. My life as a musician began aged three when I started playing the violin - I've been involved in music ever since, and it has been my full time profession since leaving education. As a live audio engineer (working closely with Chris T-Smith/The BPAS Group) I am available freelance to engineer for bands or venues across the UK and with BPAS can provide everything from a small system up to a PA for major festival sites, with 48 track location digital recording. For composition, editing and mixing I use a ProTools rig. I work with caller/melodeon player Roger Watson (www.rogerwatson.co.uk), both with Boka Halat (www.bokahalat.co.uk) and on a variety of educational projects. I work extensively with Luton based guitarist Brian Heywood, with our ceilidh band MoonDance and other projects. Recently I have started playing live with The James Asher Group featuring carnatic singer Mahesh Vinayakram and flute virtuoso Navin Chandar. I am honoured to work with Gambian master percussionist Musa Mboob on a variety of projects. Over the last few of years I have also recorded and played live with: Kandid, David Goo, enQ, Whapweasel, The Friday Lineup, Robb Johnson and The Bluetongue Bush Band - as well as many others. As a choral singer, I recorded and broadcast with the choirs of Manchester Cathedral and St Nicholas' Cathedral, Newcastle - and with the Rodolphus Choir. I have performed in: India, Australia, Malta, France, Germany, Sweden, Poland and Ireland. |

Instruments: my main violin is a top corner design by the fantastic English maker Timothy N. Phillips (#87). For more information please see: timsviolins.co.uk - I also play a 5-string viola made by Tim (#131). The electric violin I use and endorse is a white Lyra 5-string, by Bridge Instruments (see bridgeinstruments.co.uk). The bows I use are both made from carbon fibre (an 'Aspire' violin model and a 'Conservatory' viola model) by CodaBow (they are both available via bowshop.co.uk) I play 3 basses all of which were dead cheap, but sound great! One is a short-scale and has frets, the other is full-scale fretless. A recent addition to these is a lovely bass from the 70's, made in Japan and branded 'Columbus', it's a Fender Jazz copy and is my main gigging instruments at the moment! My keyboards are Roland - an old XP10 and a new JunoD. I absolutely love them for live use, and I use Roland keybaords amps too. I am the proud owner of a mandola made by Haydn Williams (senior luthier for Overwater basses) and am enjoying playing that very much!! The best tinned sweetcorn is by Green Giant - Salad Crisp variety (not Niblets Original). Thanks for visiting this page, look forward to hearing from you.
