Carrie, Actually nothing was assumed. Your own profile would suggest that you qualified over 2 years ago and although this may be indicative of the state of this industry it is still a little depressing to think that, having gone through the expense and dedication required top complete film-school, you are not actually working professionally in the industry by now and having to work in an NHS office to make a living. My reaction and the reaction of many other was justified given the information provided in your initial post. My wife also works for the NHS and I am very surprised that a beaurocratic organisation such as the NHS would agree to have such a key training feature produced on what can only be described as a “homer”. It would also be, in my humble opinion, suspicious that following our initial reactions you have now started to dangle the carrot of `possible payment at Equity rates` to anyone interested in working on this project but have fallen short of actually committing to a number. FYI. There is no such thing as a standard Equity rate for actors/extras working on a corporate project. For your information I too have done a number of unpaid gigs and have 3 more scheduled over the next month but these productions have been very clearly non-profit projects and, under these circumstances, I have been happy to volunteer my services. I view these projects as an investment in my future and, to emphasise my point, I have on 1 occasion traveled the full length of the country at my expense just to attend a audition for a no-pay project. I would respectfully suggest you finalise the pre-production side of this project including the budget before issuing a casting notice. I would even have applied myself had payment been offered from the start but suspect my chances of securing a part are pretty slim now anyway :-)) Regards, ForbesKB 07749488764
