Hi everyone. I am a 23 year old actress living in Leeds with a degree in Drama under her belt. I do have an agent but auditions have been pretty thin on the ground and I've noticed that the majority or work offered is down south. What's going on? I know a lot of very talanted actors and actresses from the North of England but we're forced to go live in London (and starve to death!) for work as there's very little on offer up here. I have been thinking recently of enquiring whether anyone out there in the West Yorkshire area would be intersted in forming a theatre company to put together some physical theatre/impro/stage a play or two. I also thought this company could, after getting to know eachothers strengths and individual skills, put together a showcase and invite agents or casting agents along to check out what we've got to offer. I am also a writer and have had my debut play performed at the Edinburgh festival to great reviews last year. I am definitely up for getting together with fellow actors and actresses who also might like to try their hands at writing and maybe incorporate some new writing into our work to get us noticed. Right now I am just enquiring if there are any people around in my area who would be interested in doing this. As an actress who is often out of work I find that I can lose confidence as im not acting a lot. It would be great to get together with some others to devise some peformances and maybe get a real company going. It's better than being on the dole anyway!
