Hello all! The no-budget sequel to Ginger in the Dark 1 & 2 has begun production. Being shot in our spare time we're making a bigger and better movie than the previous two, with a larger cast, more action and better locations... At least that's what I think! ;) I posted a request a while ago but to be honest it was too early, so I'm asking again now hoping that some people will come forward.
Sorry to put it bluntly, but I'm looking for a black man to play "John Fear", a fairly mysterious character who aids the detectives by giving them information on voodoo and the past of the ginger villain in the film, Fred Morganson. You will have several key scenes, essentially in a spooky, or old looking house - where the detectives visit you to gain information, and later on in the movie too near a quarry, and possibly as part of the finale fight scene. There is a VERY slim possiblity the fourth movie will be completely focussed around "John Fear", as he IS the voodoo master!!
The character begins out fairly frail, he's given up "all that voodoo ****" and is trying to move on. But when he learns about Morganson - who was a patient at a mental hospital that Fear was also a doctor at, he decides to get back "into" voodoo. Over the course of the film he too starts doing some of the strange things Fred has learnt to do. It's all tongue in cheek, there is no historical or even factual signifcance, so be prepared - you're playing a cliche voodoo guy, you HAVE to be able to act over the top. You have to be able to come across as kind yet in other scenes quite SCARY. Think of Tony Todd, that kind of look is PERFECT. He's one scary mofo!
If you might be interested, I urge you to watch Ginger in the Dark and Ginger in the Dark II - both available on this website, so that you can see what you're getting into. The third movie I assure you is even better than those two. We're not able to pay, we may not even be able to pay your travel expenses. But where I come from Ginger in the Dark has certainly become of legendary status. Every week someone new tells me they've seen the movie and love it. It'd look good on your showreel, but most of all you would be DOING THIS FOR FUN :)
Filming will be taking place in OXFORDSHIRE, and key train stations would be READING, CHOLSEY and DIDCOT PARKWAY. Ideally someone local would be great, so that you don't have to pay much for travel. If you drive, we might be able to re-imburse you some petrol money, but don't expect miracles. I'm skint. :p We plan to shoot your scenes anytime from NOW until MAY, perferably nearer now than May, though!
If you might be interested...no, if you ARE - because I need dedication, no maybe's...please email me and send a headshot and preferably a link to some acting you've done in the past, whether it's on YouTube, here etc. NO CV's PLEASE!
