Well, Damien, I'm very happy for you - you seem to have done very well. I too have worked on students films for nothing and low budget films from which I have been offered roles in other low budget films.
I have an agent who I auditioned for so that's not an issue for me. However, it is actually illegal to employ actors for no money when the crew is getting paid - that was my question, if you read my first posting you will see that.
I have been advised to contact Equity about this as various members of Equity (as I am myself) have said that this is an unacceptable state of affairs.
I'm a little perturbed at your implied suggestion here, that people who disagree with certain working practices will be noted and, again by implication, not employed. This is a little sinister as I believe we do live in a democracy where differing opinions are welcomed and encouraged.
