The art director will work closely with the Producer and Director and will be heavily involved in the process as collaboration is encouraged and the film requires heavy art direction and is key to the story. Synopsis Messages tells the story of recently bereaved Shirley, through the abstract-eyes of her decaying environment and through her repeated one night stands. Always the same kind of man, tall, clean cut and dark, we begin to suspect her motivation is something to do with the message on her answer phone, a message she does her best to avoid but one she can't keep away from. We discover that the message is the last real contact from her lover, a declaration of love and a promise to return. It becomes obvious that her one night acquisitions are triggered by her mental decline and that nothing, not even the intervention of her mother can prevent her from an attempt to end it all and be with the man she loves. Only he, in her hallucinating state, can save her. Messages - details the mental decline of a young bereaved woman, Shirley and her final re-emergence from her self-destructive pattern of behaviour. With a noirish tone, Messages is told through the actions of Shirley and how she interacts with her environment and the men she attracts. Dark, imploring and ultimately life affirming short film making at its very best. Although the position is unpaid this is a great chance to get to showcase your skills, expenses will be covered and DVD copy when completed.
