Robert, a Medium frustrated by scraping a living with simple party tricks, is hired by George to find the truth behind the brutal deaths of his wife & children. George is convinced their house is possessed by an ancient evil, but as the dead return to tell their stories, Robert discovers a horror far more real than any ghost story.
The shoot takes place in November, primarily in Haworth and Hebden Bridge (two weeks shooting in the main location, then a couple of weekends for bits & pieces). The finished film will have a distinctly local feel to it, and we're looking for local crew if possible too.
Lighting is going to be crucial to the success of the film, particularly for the seance scenes, but also to differentiate the various flashbacks. We're looking for someone who can work with the DP to create fast, effective lighting set-ups that'll minimise the need of CG & other post-production effects in making the impossible, possible. Owning your own kit is clearly a bonus, but is a lower priority than talent and attitude.
We also find ourselves without a PRODUCTION DESIGNER again -- a crucial role in a project of this nature. We're looking for subtle changes (in costume, set dressing etc) between two different flashbacks, telling the same story from different perspectives; we're also aiming to film in "Hell"; and we have a number of violent deaths, that will need figuring out logistically in conjunction with our Special Makeup FX guy. On a tight budget. With three weeks' notice. :-)
In the interests of speed & simplicity we're shooting on a rock-bottom budget, which means it's expenses-only for all concerned. This is where I should go on about getting a foot up in the industry and stuff, raising your profile and having a meaningful learning experience... but the aim is very much to produce a commercially viable product (as a rapid follow-up to 'Lycanthropy', which is on sale now, 'Idol of Evil', which enters the distribution market at NATPE in January, and 'Chameleon', which already has distribution interest in three continents, ahead of a Jan-Feb shoot); our anticipated sales value is 600,000, so there's a fighting chance that the deferrals & profit share points we'll be offering might actually end up meaning something, by next Summer.
