We are an experienced Brighton based film and TV production company, recently re located from London to Brighton, and are currently looking for local crew including a Production Manager, Assistant directors, Location Manager, Art Department Assistants and runners to work on a low budget digital short being made under the Screen South/UK Film Council digital shorts scheme. "Odd Shoe", written by Northern Film School graduate, Clare Bloomfield, is a quirky coming of age tale told through a young boy’s fascination with shoes. The script will be directed by Toa Stappard an emerging film maker who has made 4 shorts including Eight for Eight Thirty (won Best Film at The British Short Film Festival), Strip (shortlisted for the BAFTA live action award) and Euston Road, starring Paul Bettany ( screened on Channel 4, acquired by Film 4/Hypnotic, distributed by Verve Pictures with feature film Fear X). A variety of key crew are attached/coming on board, who will all be working for free: Lucy Bristow DOP (she most recently camera operated on BBC's Jane Eyre), Emma Fryer, costume design (she's just finished Warp X feature film The Allotment), Gaby Kester casting director, she recently cast features, The Oxford Murders, Breaking and Entering ( directed by Anthony Minghella), she was also Associate Casting director on Proof, Nanny McPhee and Bridget Jones and Rob Lane will be composing, his recent credits include Elizabeth 1st strarring Helen Mirren and Longford starring Samantha Morton/Jim Broadbent, shortly to be screened on Channel 4. Shoot dates are now early January (12th to 16th) in and around Brighton Any suitable candidates who live or have a base in South East / nearish Brighton must have the necessary production knowledge / experience and organisational / communication skills required for short filmmaking. Given the very low budget nature of short film making, applicants who have related experience in assistant roles in film/TV, who want the opportunity to move up and gain experience / a credit in these key production roles to further career progression, should apply (unpaid / expenses are covered). Knowledge of Movie Magic for the Production Managers would be useful but not essential (we can train up any selected candidate). A driving license (a car or access to a car, if possible) would also be useful.
