Room For Pudding are looking for a director for a piece of new writing as part of a double bill which will run for three weeks over Oct/Nov at a high profile fringe venue. Something Borrowed by Victoria Taylor Roberts is the second play of a trilogy examining the intensity of enforced companionship and the claustrophobia inspired within us by those around, be they friends, enemies, family or complete strangers. Amidst unfolding tragedy, two women are linked inextricably by the man that they both love and fight to make sense of their confused circumstances. Two of the four main roles are already cast from our company's core ensemble and although the script is written in full, the nature of our usual rehearsal method means that this can be workshopped and will change organically throughout the rehearsal period. Room For Pudding theatre company strive to create immersive theatre with an ethos of presenting honest reaction in performance, both in the performers' work with each other and their interaction with the audience. Our technique relies heavily on practical approaches to theatre, influenced by practitioners such as Growtowski, Meyerhold, Boal and Michael Chekhov. We apply our working method to both devised work and written text, working with a variety of genres from classical text through to new writing as well as developing and devising new work as an ensemble. Ideally the applicant will have the remaining cast in place and begin rehearsal by 20th August, with a minimum of 10hours rehearsal per week ( to be arranged according to availability) but ideally two weekday evenings and one weekend day. The position is unpaid but provides the opportunity to be involved with a hard-working commited team of theatrical collaborators with the possibility of a long-term involvement with the company.
