Re: JAPANESE INDEPENDENT FILMMAKER SEEKS HELP ON U.K. PROJECT Open letter to British filmmakers: I am a Tokyo-based filmmaker planning to shoot a film in Wiltshire during the summer of 2002. This project is a micro-budget independent film. It is a 70-minute DV feature about a Japanese painter who revisits Wiltshire to see an ex-lover, only to find unexpected gaps in terms of the way each of them sees the landscape, brought by each one's own memories and fantasies. The project is currently titled "Separate Landscape". A proposal and the complete script have been accepted by the local council, and the council has agreed to help the project. We will also have help from various local people as well as actors from the local theatre company. Most of the project staff will be from Britain. The basic schedule is: --Location hunting, rehearsal and shooting: August-September 2002 (Wiltshire) --Post-production and editing: September - November 2002 (Tokyo) I need crew staff (more details below) who can help in some capacity on the project. This project started out as a small project but I want to make it broadcast quality. In the past my films have been selected and screened in several film festivals internationally, and on completion I want to send this film to many festivals, and also to show it on tv and in theaters and galleries in the U.K. and Japan. I am looking for people who are enthusiastic about the project. It will be a real international collaboration, and a chance to work on a project from beginning to end and on a flexible schedule (I will work around staff members' schedules as necessary). Incidentally, my latest project "Memory of Water" has its own web site at: http//mxs.ssi-media.co.jp/memory/ For more information, please email me at kog@interlink.or.jp In addition, I will have a one-night film showing and talk at Electric Cinema on Portobello Road on 6 November at 6:30. Please come along to the showing, and please let me know after the talk if you might be interested in joining the project in some capacity.
