Flashbacks illustrate the stories the mourners are telling, and discrepancies arise between what is spoken and what is seen. What role was played by her fiancée Michael, driven by the inner machinations of the Bernadino family and its dying patriarch Luigi? Or by Caleb, Tina’s big-hearted but weak-willed former boyfriend? And where does her best friend Amy fit into the emerging pattern of deception? The secret is revealed only as Tina’s coffin rumbles towards the cremation chamber in The Corpse Wore White.
