The final word?...I think not. That's the benefit of an "open forum"...the users themselves (and, of course, the moderators) decide when a matter is closed. What I strongly objected to with regards to Mr. Johns message was as follows, and this list is by no means exclusive. a) The fact that the way the message was delivered is bordering on illegal in most countries and had the message been sent to an physical email address as opposed to a message drop within a community site he could have been prosecuted under anti spamming legislation...Why was it individually sent to selected members rather than by way of posting an open message in the forum. b) The fact that the numbers didn't add up (450K short of target) indicating a lack of professionalism and a severe lack of financial accumen. c) The fact that it was "fame" that Mr. John thought was our primary motivation for being in this business showing a total lack of respect for the acting community. d) The fact that Mathew John does not appear to be an active participant on any of the numerous filmaking community boards indicating someone who is not inherently interested in filmaking. e) The fact that Mr. John only subscribed to UKScreen with the sole purpose of soliciting its members. f) The fact that minimal details were on offer in the original message and the claims of having a prestigeous crew and a list cast already on board, were in my humble opinion, unsubstantiated and highly unlikely... If, as you say, you know Mathew John personally and you, as a member of UKScreen, are willing to vouch for his character then have him send me the full details of this production and I will let the community know if he is genuine or not. I would like to think I am a respected member of this and many other filmmaking communities and any information on Mathew John production provided to me directly would of course, be treated in the strictest confidence. If you do your research on my postings over the past 2 years you'll find I have been instrumental in getting at least 2 features funding through unconventional sources so having me on your side rather than against me cannot be a bad thing.
