There was recently a job posted on mandy.com asking for a presenter on LIFE TV. Within a week it was filled and I wondered whether anyone out there actually GOT A SCREEN TEST ??? The reason why I ask is, last year IBUY did a similar thing.....they announced they were looking for a "new face" and called it SHOP IDOL, It got tons of press coverage and radio/tv publicity.....It turned out they offered ONE JOB to a girl who was ALREADY WORKING THERE !.....Whta a great way to MARKET YR CHANNEL FOR FREE !!!!
I cant help bu think these guys were doing the same ?? the job was "filled" far too quickly, and within a day or two, I recieved a email from glamour job (an associate company), marketing their presenters course, WHICH WAS EXPENSIVE ! IT SEEMS TO ME THEY WERE DOING THE SAME AS IBUY.....FAKE JOB, DRUMMING UP INTEREST, THEREFORE GAINING LEADS TO SELL THIER ASSOCIATED COURSES. ONLY THE BBC/ITV would HONESTLY look for a NEW FACE, because the SKY CHannels NEED known faces in order to gain the viewing figures. THE BEEB however, you can see why they can AFFORD an new face.
TO ME, IT SEEMS THAT WE AS PRESENTERS NOT YET WELL ESTABLISHED ARE BEING EXPLOITED, PREYED UPON AS WE ALL ARE NATURALLY AMBITIOUS. IT ANGERS ME SO MUCH, AS MANY PEOPLE SPEND LOADS OF MONEY ON SENDING OUT MATERIAL ETC, AND FOR WHAT !!!!!! THEY ARE IN A SUCH A MARKETING POSITION OF POWER, AND WE TAKE IT.
