Golden Ricky to host the Globes

Fresh from his success presenting awards at last year's Golden Globes, The Office creator Ricky Gervais has been chosen to host next year's awards ceremony in Hollywood.
For the past fifteen years, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which puts on the event, hasn't used a single host, but has instead used different stars to present each awards, insisting that they have enough star-power between them to carry the show.
But a Golden Globe winner himself, Gervais - who's recently made the move from television to the big screen, with lead roles in Ghost Town and The Invention of Lying - will host the whole ceremony at the 67th Awards next January.
The prestigious Golden Globes awards are seen in much of the industry as second only to the Oscars for honouring achievements in film, but they also hand out prizes to those involved in TV shows.
Paul Telegdy, from the NBC network which airs the telecast, "Ricky is certainly one of the funniest people on the planet and has provided some of the most hilarious and memorable awards show moments in recent memory."
"I've resisted many other offers like this," said the comic, "But there are some things you just don't turn down."
