POSITION: Screenplay Writer FILM: 'A Distant Cry' (see below) PRIMARY DUTIES: To write a screenplay based on a story and treatment written by Timothy Reynard REQUIREMENTS: Must have previously written a minimum of two screenplays for feature films QUALITIES: Professional, negotiable, willing to compromise, hardworking SALARY: 2 of profits (negotiable) + expenses covered + DVD of film + free premiere tickets etc DURATION: It is hoped that a final draft is completed by the end of May LOCATION: Work from home. Lots of telephone and email correspondance. About 'A Distant Cry' (treatment avaliable on request): The Director-General of the South African Secret Service (SASS), Lucas van Blerk, is called to London for a meeting with the SIS. The Head of SIS, "C" reveals his agents have found an abandoned nuclear weapons facility in South Africa. "C" and Lucas argue, but agree to investigate the situation more. But things goes awry when "C"'s secretary, Amy, leaks the minutes of the meeting. The mistake ends with the massacre of an entire village in South Africa, by a country who want to take over the nuclear weapons facility. Things complicate further when Amy and Lucas' son, Jack develop a relationship, but it is a forbidden relationship, inevitably which is going to go wrong. A complicated dgame of cat and mouse appears as the situation deepens and it appears a new world war is inevitable. About the Director: Timothy Reynard is a young critically acclaimed filmmaker, who currently resides in the North of England. Timothy who 'The Guardian' say has "a bright career in film" , directed and wrote his first feature, 'Denied' in 2007. 'Denied' was premiered at the Odeon Harrogate cinema in January 2008 infront of over 300 people including Oscar nominated film director, Ken Russell. The film went on to received much publicity, including positive reviews in The Times and The Guardian - it was also featured on BBC Look North.
