Laurence is an experienced actor and all round nice bloke. He used to think being called a nice bloke was rather a backhanded compliment - damned with faint praise at best. Then he realised that the alternative was probably road rage or a small town pint and a fight mentality, swearing at the kids, invading other countries under false pretences, strapping homemade bombs to yourself and climbing aboard crowded buses, stabbing a teenager because of a cockeyed notion of r-e-s-p-e-c-t, robbing old folk for a fix, raiding the pension funds of a nation, avoiding the question... and so he thought being a nice bloke wasn't such a bad thing after all. And it's only an opinion. He's been on television numerous times, in some films (some of which have won awards), on the radio, and trod the boards in critically acclaimed plays (some of which have won awards too).
