Nigel Osner

Actor
About:
See www.nigelosner.com and www.scarletcherub.com . I made my first short film in 2005, based on one of my cabaret characters. ‘Just One More Night’, directed by Pat Garrett, has been shown at various festivals throughout the world, including the Swansea Vue Film Festival 2008 where it won the award for best narrative short, and the Heart of England Film Festival 2008, where it won the award for best international short.. It has also been shown at various film events etc, and on satellite TV. It is being streamed on http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=v2MIq8i2AC4 . “Pat Garrett's Just One More Night delivers a well crafted performance from Nigel Osner as an aging entertainer, reflecting on a life less than glamorous, but one convincing enough to appear that way to his public. Osner also subtly scripted this performer's life, so it's doubly hard to separate art from life. Which imitates the other? Hard to tell, in this very enigmatic film performance. But that's the point isn't it?' ” James MacGregor reviewing Final Cut Take 2 DVD, netribution 3 June 2006 www.netribution.co.uk . In 2006 I acted in three more short films, including one about a vampire being interviewed by late night TV. 'Just One More Bite' was finished in January 2007. It has been nominated or given awards at various film festivals, including gold award for best narrative short at the Everglades International Film festival, South Africa, 2007 and the gold award for best music film at the International Filmmaker Festival 2008. It is streamed on http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WMfDgTnqxvM . In 2007 I appeared as an angel investor in an internet ad for Venture Giant and acted in a short for the Smoke and Mirrors 48 hour challenge. In 2008 I appeared as a vicar in 'The Revelation of Reverend Jones', completed in August.

Additional Information

I am a lyricist, writer and occasional quirky performer. I most recently performed my one man show at the King’s Head Theatre, Islington and the Soho Theatre Studio. I have also performed at the Jermyn Street Theatre. I am the author of 'Magic in Ravenswood' (Heinemann). I turned it into a family musical, writing the book and lyrics (music BB Cooper). Now called 'Goblins Don’t Scare Us', it was the Christmas show at the New End Theatre, Hampstead, in 2002/3. I have also written the book and lyrics for Rock Heaven (music Scarlett G Antaloczy), a cheerful rock/swing musical about a murderer, a rock star, a groupie and a lot of cyborgs. This has been showcased in London. I have recently finished a feature film script called 'The Road to Trasnylvania' based on the characters in 'Just One More Bite'. This was nominated as best original screenplay in the Swansea Vue Film Festival 2008. The script for 'The Revelation of Reverend Jones' was short-listed for the short script award in the Supershorts International Film Festival 2008.
