· 11/2001 - Basingstoke Amateur Theatrical Society, 'The Sound of Music'During the production I was assigned to two children of the Von Trapp family. My main responsibilities were to style their hair and dress the actor both before and during the performance, involving quick change-overs.· 11/2001 - Her Majesty's Theatre, 'Phantom of the Opera'My two-day placement involved observing the Wig Stylists preparing and dressing the wigs for the show, and the behind scenes change-over of wigs and costumes. I was lucky enough to shadow the three main characters before and throughout the performance.· 08/2001 - Chichester Festival Theatre, 'The Secret Rapture'This was a 3 week paid placement at the Minerva Theatre where I assisted the Hair and Wig Stylist and Make-Up Artist with the daily production of 'The Secret Rapture'. This involved the creation of 3 main hair styles - a 1940's horizontal roll, a French Pleat with the hair first being set with heated rollers, and horizontal plaits into a bun at the back of the head. This experience also developed my skills in dealing with professional actresses in a tightly scheduled environment.· 04/2001 and 06/2001 - Arran Studios, prosthetics and special effects materialsI undertook 3 weeks work experience using silicone and fibreglass to create dinosaur parts from prepared moulds. This involved mixing and working with a variety of specialist materials to create the finished effect.· 01/2001 - Lesley Steiner, Make-Up ArtistI spent two full days as an assistant creating both male and female Victorian Hairstyles for an amateur production. This involved working with hair pieces and attaching sideburns as well as creating the required styles.· 02/2000 - 04/2001 - Assisting with a local film production of 'The Hobbit'I created costume, make-up and hair for a troll, an elf, a dwarf, a goblin and the King of the Elves. This involved working on various locations and to a tight schedule.· 09/1998 - 07/1999 - Body Beautiful, BeauticiansThis one day per week placement during my NVQ Level 3 course involved shadowing beauty treatments such as waxing, manicures, facials, eyelash tints and pedicures.· 10/1996 - 07/1998 - Regis, Hair and Beauty SalonThis was a one day per week placement working alongside a team of hairdressers. I gained experience in neutralising, shampooing, setting and various other salon tasks.
