After graduating from college with a distinction in GNVQ art, Christian went on to study animation for a year at Wolverhampton university. Unbeknownst to him it would be his year studying animation which would actually start off his film career, because while he was writing scripts for his animation projects, Christian became more interested in the idea of writing film scripts. Once he realized this was what he wanted to do, he quickly transferred to Anglia Polytechnic university (A.P.U) to study film studies. Christian continued to write his scripts while also focussing on his studies and he soon realized that not only did he want to write films, but also direct them as well. During his time at A.P.U Christian wrote, directed and produced three short films, one was a supernatural-comedy, one was an experimental film and the third was an anti-pollution film. Christian later graduated from A.P.U with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with honours, in film and communication studies. In 2003 Christian Wingate was working with an American production company called 'manmade entertainment' to develop a script he wrote and to later direct the movie himself. Although during the time he was working with 'Manmade' he managed to get actors such as Gina Philips (jeepers creepers), Clare Kramer (Buffy the vampire slayer, bring it on) and Cillian Murphey (28 days later) interested in the project, due to the success of manmade's other film 'Savage Island', which won best horror film at several festivals and is now on tour in Europe, the film had to be dropped as the producers no longer had time to give to the project. Christian is now in the middle of developing his short fantasy film 'Blue Night, Red Dawn' which he is hoping will be the first part to a mini-series or the opening act to a feature length film. The short film is currently seeking funding but already has some great talent attached to the project such as the director, Kenny Golde, whose last film 'The Job' starred Daryl Hannah and was at cannes last year, experienced DOP John Lazear, who has worked on such films as 'Swordfish', and stunt coordinator Lightning Bear, who has worked on films like 'Stars Wars', 'Star Trek', just to name a few. Hopefully with the right budget, this short film will be seen a film festivals around the world. |
