A former best selling author, magazine columnist, and award winning VFX Supervisor, Craig has recently transtioned into the role of a Writer & Director. Starting his film career in 1997 at George Lucas’ Industrial Light + Magic, Craig honed his skills in the CG Modeling Department, the infamous Rebel Unit, the Digital Matte Painting Department, and finally the CG Department fulfilling the disciplines of a modeller, matte painter, technical director and compositor. During his tenure at ILM, he was involved in both film VFX as well as Commercial division projects, many of which were nominated for Academy Awards. Craig joined Framestore CFC in 2001 to help lead the team that eventually won an Emmy and four VES Awards for the mini series Dinotopia. Since then, Craig’s been involved with a variety of different projects, ranging from supervising Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix to Universal’s summer blockbuster Wanted. During his tenure at Framestore CFC, he helped tranistion the company from a small boutique into the film studio that it is today. At one of the high points of his career, Craig led a team for Fox’s, Xmen: The Last Stand which covers the full gamut of visual effects ranging from animatics to shoot supervision. Involved from the beginning of the project, the Framestore CFC team participated in the pre-visualization as well as the conceptualization of many of the key sequences of the movie. On the post side of the project he supervised the pivotal Golden Gate Bridge sequence. For his work on Xmen, Craig was short listed for the Oscar nomination for Best Visual FX. In 2008 Craig left the world of VFX to transition into the role of Writer & Director. He directed the short film for the British Academy promoting the 2007 awards, which was screened in over 1700 UK theaters as well as on BBC One. He’s currently at work on his own short film Closing Doors shooting in August in addition to developing two feature length screenplays, Albert’s War a WWII period drama as well as a supernatural thriller The Fey.
