About:
|
Script Development Executive for Marchmont Films (www.marchmontfilms.com) and Script Reader for Euroscript (www.euroscript.co.uk) and Scottish Screen (www.scottishscreen.com) --- “Daniel Hayes is a Script Editor, Developer, and Writer from East Anglia. Described by one producer as “standing head and shoulders above the majority of professional script developers,” Daniel has an innate talent for story analysis, with the ability to identify problems and suggest practical ways of resolving them. A graduate of The Script Factory's acclaimed 'Industry Script Reader & Development Training' course, Daniel studied a BA English & US Literature and Film at the University of Essex, gaining a first before going on to obtain a distinction for his MA in Film Studies & Production. Following this he worked at a professional production company for a year, while also working on numerous independent films on the side. Daniel has worked on a large number of film and television projects, notching up hundreds of comprehensive script reports (each receiving glowing feedback), and gaining valuable hands-on experience of working with writers, producers, and directors. The types of projects he’s been involved in include features, TV-movies, television series, shorts, and animations, and the genres range from gritty drama to light-hearted comedy and children’s programmes. The scripts he has worked on have been taken up by the First Film Foundation, Scottish Screen, and the Rocliffe New Writers’ Forum. As a writer Daniel has had several scripts commissioned and produced (including 'Wet Dreams, Dry Days' a winning entry in Screen East's Digital Shorts 2004 competition) as well as being a published author of short stories. His work has been performed at the Essex Book Festival and at the launch-parties of the anthologies they appeared in. Daniel has co-taught a Creative Writing evening class for adults, and has also contributed to a scriptwriting group and a playwriting group. He is currently developing his own material with script editor Duncan Melville (www.ukscreen.com/crew/dmelville) and has been awarded CIBIP funding for 'Industry Mentoring' by BBC/Ch4 producer Debbie Gray. He also continues to offer development services for Euroscript, Scottish Screen, and Marchmont Films' Writer's Feedback Service".
