Director, Producer
About:
I am a producer director with credits on BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Five documentary and magazine programmes. I have worked independantly as a self shooter, setting up my own shoots and can also slot nicely into larger teams on established formats. I direct, shoot, produce, write scripts and work with talent on a regular basis and have a lot of experience at this level.
I recently directed thirty minute and sixty minute documentaries for The Art Show on Channel 4. Setting up shoots in the USA, I shot, recorded sound and directed on two arts documentaries for peak time Channel 4 slots. As well as making an independant documentary film about British Rock bands touring CUBA, Also this year, I have been working with crews and presenters to direct glossy films for directing for DESI DNA - BBC 2s Arts and Culture magazine.
I had a lot of fun working on ITV Taxi Nights, where I was shooting DV and developing stories for a 12 part observational series about Black Cab drivers. On BBC1 Heaven and Earth, I produced and directed glossy 2 camera celebrity interviews.
I alsodeveloped a 3 X 60 documentary series for BBC 4. After writing a detailed treatment, I produced and directed the pilot.
I was formerly Associate Producer on HOT PROPERTY for Channel 5. Setting up five day shoots on a quick turnaround basis, I procured houses to give away on the programme, found contestants and directed second unit PSC.
In 2002 I produced a CHANNEL 4 documentary "BOLLYWOOD FOR BEGINNERS" with WORLD of WONDER. I developed, researched and produced an exciting half hour program about Bollywood for Channel 4's Indian Summer season.
At ITV THIS MORNING I wrote scripts and directed PSC crews for the frenetic VT team. Staying on the pulse of potential fashion, fitness and travel stories, I directed snappy lifestyle VTs on a quick turnaround basis.
Over summer 2001, I directed seven films for the BBC 1 HOLIDAY program. Leading teams of up to ten people on location, I wrote scripts and shot DV to produce high gloss, high quality holiday films for prime time television.
At Granada Satellite Broadcasting, I researched on Health Livetime - two hours of live studio programming a week. Keeping abreast of breaking health news, I was responsible for finding compelling human-interest case studies for interview, as well as setting up studio items in a high pressure, multi tasking environment.
I quickly moved on to the consumer magazine program MONEY MAKEOVERS. I had to find Britain's most successful business people and persuade them to give interviews. In this proactive role I was responsible for researching as well as directing the PSC shoots, turning around up to twenty four VTs a month.
My Asian / English dual culture and varied life experiences mean I am good at offbeat thinking and utilising contradiction creatively. I have worked as an English teacher in Tokyo, which, as an Asian teaching English to the Japanese, was a challenging and important time in my development. I have travelled to countries as far afield as Venezuela, Morocco, Cambodia, Thailand and Pakistan, publiushing my photogrpahy and travel articles in Life magazine.
