About:
|
Hi there. My name's King Wai (you can call me King for short) and I'm a scriptwriter and researcher by trade and a budding documentary maker. I have a strong interest in documentary making having recently gotten the documentary bug while doing a film and TV course in New Zealand. I hope to get more experience in this area besides developing my other strengths in drama and sitcom, which I have a strong background in. Hopefully this decision will sprout new challenges for me. Incidentally, I recently completed a diploma in Film and TV at South Seas Film School in Auckland, New Zealand, graduating with flying colours with majors in Production Management and Documentary Directing. I also minored in Presenting and read the news and presented a lifestyle programme at the school. "Problems are nothing but wake-up calls for creativity" (Gschwandtner) Give me a problem and I will find a way to solve it for you. |

Other Skills:

During my stint at the film school in New Zealand I developed skills in production management and excelled in budgeting and scheduling. I also directed a short documentary titled "Growing Up Kiwi", which explored the lives of three ethnic New Zealanders who grew up in New Zealand, speak with a strong kiwi accent but look different from white and maori New Zealanders. Due to this documentary I have developed skills in interviewing and directing crew. I've also written for award winning English Sitcoms, namely, KOPITIAM in Malaysia and PHUA CHU KANG in Singapore. Moreover, I've done a Magazine programme titled WATCH U WANT, for Channel [V] and a Talent Quest show, THE BIG BREAK. In addition to this, I did a freelance project for an Animation children show called TOMATO TWINS, and that's to be aired on Nickelodeon in the middle of 2002.I also had the opportunity to scriptwrite for Disney Asia for their Disney Buzz programme. The show targets 8 to 14 year olds and has cartoons and short interstitials of the host on short adventures in different circumstances. The show is fed via satellite or cable to Brunei, Malaysia, Korea, Phillipines and Singapore.Besides these projects I completed a Corporate Video for the National University of Singapore. It was for their Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA) programme. I later worked in a communication company called Spin Network, which has their own in-house animation department and their focus is on external and internal communication needs of company's and government bodies. My lastest stint has been working freelance for The Right Angle Media on a cooking show called Chef On Call. It featured Devagi Sanmugam, a celebrity chef here in Singapore and host, Cynthia Lee. I did the research and script for 3 episodes.
