About:
|
I am a keen originator of material with a good eye for direction and composition. I frequently write scripts for short films with the intention of directing them myself, although I am equally adept at operating as part of a crew in a technical capacity. I began my experience in televisual media through an involvement with a group of experimental musicians with whom I collaborated on a series of music videoes and other visual pieces which employed a highly innovative, avant garde approach to filmmaking, often without a budget. These origins have continued to inspire me as I have embarked upon a diversity of projects in a multitude of roles, always looking for ways to produce effective results even with the most limited of resources. My main area of enthusiasm and experience is in production, working closely with camera and lighting. I have also had experience in post-production as an assistant editor, as well as notable stints in front of the camera as both actor and presenter. I am always eager for new professional experiences, each one a valuable learning process to benefit my future personal projects. My prime concern is a fusion of the elements of avant-garde, underground, arthouse and trash cinema in a way that utilises the building blocks of the medium to maximum sensory effect. Although my main influences continue to hail from areas other than that of film and television, I do take inspiration from filmmakers such as Richard Kern, Nick Zedd, Beth B, Stan Brakhage, Andy Warhol, Jack Smith, George Kuchar, Bruce Conner, Tessa Hughes Freeland, John Waters, David Lynch, Luis Bunuel, Miike Takashi, Dario Argento, Darren Aronofsky, George A. Romero, Ingmar Bergman, Herschell Gordon Lewis, Jim Jarmusch, David Cronenberg, Hal Hartley and Shinya Tsukamoto.
