I began my interest in the art since I was a child, I’ve performed in school plays and started learning to play the piano and took several dance classes. Since then, I became interested in screen acting and took up drama at the age of 11, until I was 17. At that age, was studying my creative A levels, in which I undertook a film studies course. This opened up a new world for me and really pushed me into making films. Which what I based my university degree on, Communication, Culture and Media, a mouthful I know, the course involved photography, journalism and music as well as film making, I focused my modules on film making, sound and music which I believe is a fairly good mixture as I would have knowledge on visual and audio aspects of a creative project. During my time a university, I have worked on film productions, focusing deeply the task involved in pre productions, productions and post-production. During my first and second year I did a lot of editing using AVID Express Pro and I believe I have a good knowledge using this software, I learnt to edit films taking theory into account to achieve the best possible effect.
I have also successfully completed several theoretical modules over my time at university so far. I think it helps to bring in my studies in the theoretical approach to media along with practical based media practises.
Ever since studying film, I have always been intrigued with experimenting with film techniques. I would say that this is my main hobby, as well as drawing and poetry. However, my drawings influence me a lot when it comes to filming. I believe I can work artistically and theoretically, and that’s important when trying to get the most out of your filming. My new personal project is inspired by a poem, which I wrote, and I can easily combine that with my drawings.
Just lately I have finished my final year at university and will be entering my final project, The Rose Brooch, to festivals such as the TCM. The Rose Brooch was in the shortlist for Best Film at the Phoenix Festival at the University I attended. By working on a major project like this allowed me to undertake a major role in production, not only scriptwriter but Casting director and Director of Photography. This forced me to learn about the two roles in the latter and put it in practice at the same time as I was new to those roles and didn’t plan to take up them at the beginning. On the production however, I did continue to be an Assistant Director as planned.
I am currently in production with SulkyHippo Productions on a film called The Obsession, written by me a few years ago which will be in casting soon. In addition, I am also currently working on a new script called The Colours We Forget (working title).
