Herbie: Fully Loaded (U) US 101 mins
Reviewed By:  Maria Duarte

WHO MADE IT?
|
Director: Angela Robinson
Cast: Lindsay Lohan, Michael Keaton, Matt Dillon, Justin Long and Breckin Meyer
|
WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
|
Maggie Peyton (Lohan), a third generation member of a legendary NASCAR family, is the new owner of Number 53, Herbie the Volkswagen Beetle with a mind of its own. Against her dad’s (Keaton) wishes, and knowledge, she puts the car through its paces on the road in order to become a NASCAR champ.

WHAT’S IT LIKE?
|
It’s a fun revival of the much loved Walt Disney classic car film which had its first outing in 1969. The modern day Herbie has a retro look and feel about it and is definitely the star of this movie. It frowns, gets angry and falls in love (with a gorgeous, shiny new bright yellow Beetle).
Popular teen star Lindsay Lohan is charming and feisty as Maggie while Matt Dillon is great as the high velocity villain Trip Murphy, Herbie’s NASCAR nemesis. As for Michael Keaton he’s too good for this kind of film. His talents are wasted here. Watch out for a cameo by the original Herbie the Love Bug.
About three dozen Beetles were used in the making of this movie and if you grew up with the Herbie films you won’t be disappointed. This is an entertaining and heartwarming family film with a killer soundtrack.
