Where to start? I am 28 years old and live in a small town in the North of England with a population of 50,000 people. 6ft with blonde hair, blue eyes etc - see photo for what i look like.
In my younger days i was a bit of a tearaway. I didn't fully finish school and was happier out with my friends than in a class room, which was an issue i would later regret. The "friends" i chose to hang out with turned out to be less than friends and i got into trouble here and there. If it wasn't for my late mother (god rest her soul) then i would probably be either in prison or dead.
It was at the age of 22 that i took an interest in performing arts. Don't get me wrong, i have always and still do love film, theatre, reading and writing but it was actually getting into that industry that drew me in. I began to write, firstly short stories for my own amuzement. Then began to dabble in script writing, which i still do today. Overall my ultimate goal would be to work in the film industry but with my checkered history i knew it was going to be hard. I began to enquire into courses etc on acting,writing,directing but as most will know these courses come with a fee, and sometimes the stipulation that the candidate finished school. Hence my problem, no money, no proof of education.
But i wasn't, and will not let that deter me. I know it will be a long hard slog up hill but eventually i will get there. I am currently writing my scripts and have devised an acting c.v, albeit not with many credits but i believe that everyone should get a shot. I have tried to get myself an agent but this brings its own troubles, usually a good agent won't touch an artist without formal training or education or having a few credits to your name, you can't get auditions because you don't have an agent... Catch 22 right?
All i can say is that i will continue to work at my goal until i succeed. That is something my parents built in to me from birth, work hard and keep believing, it will happen. Of course some people will poo poo these ideas and say dreaming gets you nowhere, these people are simply afraid to go after their own dreams so decide to take it out on others. I don't mind, let them say what they want.
My bottom line is this, i am hard working, friendly and polite and will always help people if needed. I will continue to do what i do and keep writing my letters/scripts until one day one is picked from a pile and someone says "that will make a great film"
I will continue to look for and attend open auditions (although this is harder than it sounds as most websites etc want money for this information).
I just hope and pray that i may be given the chance one day to prove myself.
Most people when doing this section refer to themselves in the third person, but what i am saying is true and from my heart and what i believe.
I now have a couple of films under my belt and i am in the process of putting together a showreel. Watch this space!!
