Hailing from the North East of England, I have been performing professionally as a vocalist since the age of 16. Thoughout my extensive musical training I have worked in the field of music, as a freelance person. I have my own band, Redstar (www.redstar.org.uk) which I have toured Ibiza with, had previous releases, secured a distribution and booking agent deal and an endorsement with Roland. We are currently gigging around London (see website for gig details). I recently had one of my songs featured on a CD for the front of Sound on Sound. (oct 05 issue)
I have extensive studio experience, having worked regular sessions at The Strong Rooms, Metropolis and Mark Angelos, and am at home both singing as directed, and composing top line melody and lyrics. I have most recently been working for the producers of Emma Bunton and am due to appear on the forthcoming album.
I have a keen interest in Event management and promotion, having independently organised and performed in successful music/visual art events at the ULU and Bush Hall, featuring The Magic Numbers, The Lovegods and my own 20 strong blind choir (recruited from all over the country). These events were both instant sellouts and raised over £5, 000 for charities.
I teach vocal technique, songwriting, aural skills, music history, and ensemble skills to budding musicians all over London and the surrounding boroughs via a number of different LEA's and private schools, namely holding a vocal tutor position at the Vocal Institute, sister School to the Guitar Institute (www.guitarinstitute.com/vocals) and also on a private one to one basis.
Due to my teaching experience and strong understanding of vocal technique, my voice is always improving. I have a very big range and can be as stylistically diverse as required.
My influences include Bjork, Patti Smith, Annie Lennox, Lamb, Elizabeth Frazer, Kate Bush, Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Radiohead.
I have been gigging almost weekly on the corporate/events/agency gig scene for four years.
