The Accelerator: This short film is based on a story called ‘The New Accelerator’ by H.G.Wells, which described the invention of a new drug and hints at its numerous implications. The piece involved reducing 5500 words to around 350, while retaining the core meaning of the text. It became rapidly apparent that the sets had to be limited to only one due to time restrictions. This led me to the conclusion that it was best to base the scene around Professor Gibberne, the main character, and the aftermath of his discovery. There are several CGI sequences incorporated into the film which have been used to underline the nature of the discovery. All of the CGI sequences were modelled, animated, set and rendered by myself in 3D Studio Max 6.0TM. All post work was done in CombustionTM, and editing in Premiere ProTM. Timescale: 12 weeks (research to final presentation) |

This is a cracking short that has been meticulously crafted. It's just a pity that it hasn't attracted more votes. I'd be more than happy to have Mr Barclay on our creative team at hanlau films. |

Great effects, good adaptation of the original story to fit within constraints. Would like to have seen your War of the Worlds rather than Mr Steven "Hi-Concept" Spielberg's. |

Loved the story, Fantastic effects. I got hooked from the start. It's a pity it was a short as I would love to see this as a feature...bring it on |

Excellent production value and visuals on this intriguing little film. Particularly impressed by the track around the motionless wasp. Only small niggle was the slightly distant quality of the VO, but great music and effects.… Otherwise flawless. |

Am with Tom on this one. The only flaw was the voice over. Maybe it was intentional but it distracted me slightly. Otherwise another excellent production by Nick |
