Description:
|
In Edgar Allen Poe's The Tell Tale Heart the protagonist is haunted by an irrational fear of a clouded eye. In Adam Brett's recasting of the tale, the madness and murder are driven by the constant knell of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. Hannah Ledwith's A Stranger to Remember takes a more modern setting, and explores the themes of guilt and remorse, whilst Kate Sayers' Berenice takes a Greek approach obsession, Clare Younger's Morella explores mysticism and possession and Scott O'Brien's Lionizing looks at the pitfalls of fame and the possessing of an enormous nose. These stories are threaded together through a new adaptation by Andrew Cockerill of Charlotte Perkins Gilman's The Yellow Wallpaper, a story which some may remember from their school days, that explores madness and entrapment. |
