Jonathan Vincent was born in 1971, was educated at Maidstone Grammar School and later gained a music degree from Goldsmiths' College, London. He is classically trained on Piano and Percussion. He has a diploma in Media Composition.
Jonathan has been composing and recording his work since 1986 and has built up impressive studio facilities based around a Mac Pro with Logic Pro, Cubase and Pro-tools with 2 PCs with Gigastudio 3. Various outboard processors and sound sources complement Jonathan's impressive array of software instruments and sample libraries.
The studios are geared up for music production and work to picture. Jonathan has composed scores for several shorts (see below) and two features
Jonathan also wrote and presented "The Music Studio"-a six part series for the BBC World Service. He has contributed several tracks to the "Keytrax" Music Library for Sony.
Jonathan is the Head of Research and Development for Newtronic Midi Songware. He invented the much imitated midi construction kit software for sequencers which eventually led to the release of packages such as foundry's "Acid" and the "E-Jay" series. Jonathan's construction kits and pro-studio loops have sold well all over the globe with distribution in Japan and The States.
Jonathan has worked for Yamaha as a programmer for their XG song library.
Jonathan is also a freelance instrumentalist and session musician. He regularly performs on keyboards, vocals and guitar with "Chocolate Charlie" featuring ex One True Voice member Daniel Pearce and Charlotte Hodson (Seen in a catsuit singing at Glastonbury 2004 with Basement Jaxx!) He plays drums for various bands and orchestral percussion for all sorts of orchestral ensembles and choirs.
Jonathan is a lecturer on the Music Technology BSc at the University of Kent ( www.kent.ac.uk/musictechnology ). He has also lectured on Music Technology subjects at Christchurch College Canterbury, Mid Kent College and Gateway Recording School.
