How do I get my Video in the correct format?

  1. How do I get my Video in the correct format?

There are three stages involved in broadcasting Video on UK screen:

    1. Use the Video Capture card to capture the Video (from Video Tape, Camcorder, etc.) to your computer.
    2. Encode the Video into one of the above formats.
    3. Upload the resulting file to UK screen or upload it to your web server and then link it to your ukscreen page.

The first stage (capturing) is dependent on your capture card. The Software and Instructions should be provided with your capture card. The result of the capture will generally be a file in AVI or MOV Format.

To encode your video for the web, you need to download the appropriate encoding software for each of the above formats. These encoding programs for Windows Media and Real Media are available Free.
The encoding programs allow you to optimise you video stream for different Internet connections. But if you encode only one speed then we recommend 56K/s, which will permit modem and broadband users to watch your film. You can link two video speeds from each format for each video clip on UKscreen. But you are allowed to upload one video file to ukscreen.
